Make 2018 Your Best Year

Alright, so it's been a few weeks since 2018 has actually started. I know.

I was going post this on the 1st of the year, but then I decided to wait a little. Everyone makes their new years intentions and usually by the end of January / beginning of February people start to fall off. So, I thought why not post this more towards that time when people need that boost of help and inspiration.

In this blog, I am going to give you eight tips to make your best 2018. Are you ready to get started?

1. Do More of What You Love

I realized a few years ago that if you're wasting time doing something you're not passionate about that you really are wasting your life away. If that means picking up that hobby you always wanted or making that scary, but needed career change then now is the time to start to put those plans to action of HOW you can do it. I knew from when I was little I wanted to write and I've continually put into action a plan of going through undergraduate and graduate school with a degree in writing. Now I am formulating a plan to finish my novel and start pitching it. I also know I love crystals, meditation, astrology, healing, and so on and so I decided I'm going to start my own business. Have there been times I wanted to give up on my business because it's too much? Of course, I'm human and creating something from scratch is HARD, but I put on my big girl pants and have fought through.

2. Give Yourself Time

During 2017, I realized the importance of slowing down. I recently spoke with a friend of mine, Sahara Page, on her podcast about how America is such a go go go lifestyle and hustle until you literally can't. I disagree though. If we push through even when we're off, down, or just needing a moment then we're all going to end up in a total burn out stage where we are completely unhappy with our lives. I don't want that and I'm guessing you don't either. Take a day a week or even a few hours a week and slow down, read a book, do something for yourself -- practice that self-care and self-love. If we don't recharge, we won't ever move forward. Sometimes you may even need to take step back completely. Taking a step back doesn't mean you're failing at something, it just means your taking a minute to figure things out and babe, THAT IS OK.

3. Treat Your Body Right

This one seems natural because every year people everywhere set intentions to lose weight, eat healthier and so on. It is magical what your body can do when you do exercise regularly and fuel it with the right foods. I'm not saying fit the fad that rushes through the new year, but if you've been wanting to start eating right or get back into a fitness routine (or finally try that yoga class you've secretly always wanted to try) then do it now. I used to be serious about working out and my food. During grad school, I really fell off of both. Towards the end of grad school, my nutrition was getting back on track, but I didn't have time to workout between school, thesis writing, work, and my business. Now that I've graduated though and only have 3 out of those 4 things essentially, I have a bit more free time. It also does help that I work at Orangetheory Fitness, I won't lie. It also keeps me motivated. I signed up to run my first 10k in April as well, so that is keeping me to working towards a goal. So far this year, I have been aiming for AT LEAST working out 3 times a week to start off with. There is no need to set your goal to 6 days and then fail because you'll just beat yourself up. Start small and work up. Also, I forgot to mention... I also just registered for Yoga Teacher Training. So to say this is the year of fitness for me would be an understatement.

4. Spend Time with Good People

When we spend time with friends, family, or loved ones we truly enjoy it can change our entire day or week. Life gets busy and crazy, so I know it can be hard to catch up with your high vibe friends that really lifts you up, but maybe during that YOU time I told you to take, you catch up with her instead. Spending time with people you love and who love you and vibrate with each other can really elevate you and your spirits! Sometimes spending time even just chatting with some of my soul sisters who I know online really just lifts my mood and recharges my batteries to dive into what's next in life.

5. Read More

More and more people have gotten away from reading books! Why? I really don't understand and it's not just the writer in me saying this either. I don't even care if you're not reading self-development books -- just read! Reading is so healthy for your mind and allows your body to relax and your mind to relax (score!) from the crazy and insane world we live in. Reading can do wonders for you. Reading can help you reduce stress, increase your brain power, improve analytical thinking, improve memory, increase vocabulary, improve writing skills, and help you prioritize. Now doesn't that sound AWESOME? Yup, I thought so!

6. Less Screen Time

We live in a world full of technology, I mean you're reading this online which means you're on your computer, tablet, or phone. Unplugging is so good for you though even I need to do it more and even though the hub of my business takes place on the screen, it doesn't mean I'm not going to take weekends this year to unplug and fully recharge. I think you should too because it can be so refreshing to take that time and then come back.

7. Find A Routine

We talked about fitness and food routine, but find a routine with yourself too -- your meditation, your self work, your soul work, your journaling and alignment practices, whatever they may be. When I wake and do my meditation, crystal work, self reiki, journaling, card pulls, and yoga stretches I feel so in alignment and in flow for the day ahead and it starts my day off on the right vibration. Find the practice that works for you and your schedule and if means getting up a whole 10-15 minutes earlier, is that really the worst thing?

8. Allow Yourself to be HAPPY

Don't let stress get to you as much, also a 2018 intention for me. Life can be hard and confusing and tough, I know. Fill yourself with happy moments, time to yourself and with your loved ones and pets though and feel open to new things. Happiness can come in the smallest and sneakiest of forms, so be open to that happiness and allow 2018 to be full of it.

Well that is all I have for you today! I told you it was going to be fun and maybe you learned some stuff that'll help propel you through these next few months of your goals and intentions. And if you feel yourself begin to waiver again, just remember this post or re-read it and remember why you are on this path. You can rule 2018 and make it truly your best year yet.

Are you ready to create magic with me this year?

Spread Light. Spread Love. Spread Happiness.
