Soul Series: Lauren Madden

Welcome back soulful babes to another Soul Series! This one is coming quickly after my previous 1:1 with Jenn Morgan, but I wanted to get it to you guys in the first week of 2018 because my guest today is a rockstar when it comes to changing and owning your life.

I met Lauren Madden via the Blissfully Balanced Babes group, which another friend of mine, Becca from Balance with Boo, runs. When I requested to join the group, Lauren sent me a message and we set up a video chat to get to know each other a bit. I remember I had a headache that day, so the first live image she saw of me was me sitting with my head back and a large piece of lapis lazuli sitting on my forehead because I didn't realize she had popped on yet.

Lauren is a light and shares her knowledge, her truth, and how to live your own truth and walk your own path via her coaching and programs. I took part in a 12-week program last year that was a small group of women focusing on our bliss and what makes us happy. We met every month on the moon cycle of the New Moon and meditated, shared, and so on together. She shared tarot to co-incide with every passing week and let's just say it was magical.

The best thing about Lauren is she is very calm and inviting, she makes you feel comfortable in whatever space you may be in.

Ok, that's enough about my story with Lauren, let's dive into Lauren's story!

1. You recently (in the past year) went full time with your coaching business, tell me how that felt to take something of your own creation and have it become your full time thing?

Deciding to commit to my coaching business full-time was the best decision I’ve ever made! In the past year, I’ve learned more about myself than ever before… it’s been fun, creative, scary, hard, frustrating, inspiring – a little bit of everything! I think the hardest part about taking my business full-time has been the fact that literally anything is possible. Sometimes I had difficulty managing my time and knowing what was the *most* important thing to get done, and when. But overall, I’m so proud of myself for following my intuition to start my business, leave my corporate job, and really go all in on this! I’ve followed my intuition with every single thing I’ve created and done so far for my business, including course creation, blog posts, the book I’m working on now, hiring various mentors and coaches myself, and every coaching conversation I’ve had to date. It hasn’t led me astray once. I fully trust that when you run a spiritually-led business, you are going to be guided to exactly what you need to uncover in order to learn more about who you are and what you’re really here to do. The Universe has been crazy supportive and has provided me with so much guidance throughout this whole process – and I’m excited to see where it takes us next!

2. Depression and anxiety are something a lot of people face today. I know we’ve talked about and you openly talk about your struggles with both. Can you give any tips to my readers about what you did do overcome depression and anxiety? How has your life changed since you faced it?

I wouldn’t say I’ve “overcome” depression and anxiety, but rather that I have learned a different way of relating to these emotions. I’ve experienced depression since I was 12 years old, and was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder a little over a year ago. I’ve learned that there are highs and lows, and that all emotions (not just anxiety/depression) come and go – that’s the nature of things. Everything is temporary. So I’ve been able to change the way I relate to those times of feeling down or anxious. I’ve been able to design my life so that it’s optimal to my health – giving myself plenty of downtime, self-care, and a supportive group of friends and mentors I know I can call on when I need to. I don’t know if it’s possible to ever fully not experience depression and anxiety, but they have to come from somewhere. I’d say the first thing that changed my life about facing them is that it’s OK to not feel okay. It’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to feel terrible. But what is important is that you don’t beat yourself up for it. I used to hate myself when I’d get depressed. I thought there was something so wrong/broken with me, and thus I would treat myself terribly, and then feel even more depressed! It was a vicious cycle. Now, I see myself as a human being – one that experiences all emotions, and that acknowledges them fully – and I give myself compassion and grace. I forgive myself if I do have any of those lingering thoughts about something being wrong or broken in me. And I try to just be kind to myself. My advice would be to really let yourself feel what you need to feel, and to not run away from it… because it’s there for a reason. Become curious about what your emotions might be trying to show you or tell you. Know that they will pass. And trust in something bigger (God, Spirit, the Universe) is there to support you throughout the process.

3. Your new coaching program, Goddess Rising, sounds like such an amazing way to bring in to 2018! What can people expect if they join you on this adventure?

Thank you! I’m so excited about it!! Goddess Rising is a brand new concept for me. In the past, I’ve created online courses and led group coaching but this will be a true integration of the two. It’s a combination of self-study and group facilitation to help you really dive deep into the fears and stories you’ve been telling yourself that keep you stuck. It’s about shining light on the things you tell yourself that hold you back, and releasing that which no longer serves you, so you can create a vision for 2018 that is in alignment with your highest self. Those who join can expect to tap into parts of themselves they’ve been avoiding or resisting, release the sh*t that is no longer serving them, and create massive shifts in the way they are showing up in their lives, businesses, relationships, etc.

4. What are you currently obsessed with? (TV shows, movies, podcasts, books, a meditation, a color, whatever!)

I’m always obsessed with yoga, but that’s a no-brainer if you know me at all. I’m totally obsessed with Pema Chodron’s book “When Things Fall Apart” – she is an American Buddhist nun and she does an incredible job bringing Eastern philosophies and ideas into Western culture. Check her out if you haven’t already!

5. What’s the biggest personal intention or goal you are working on and WHY is it important to you?

My biggest intention right now is to truly put myself and my joy FIRST. I have spent too many years chasing happiness outside myself in relationships, jobs, material items, and external things. I’ve consciously done a lot of work this past year around reclaiming my worth and my right to happiness, and putting myself and my wellness as a priority. I know that the more I can do this, the more I can show up as a powerful coach for my clients, and the more I can do this important work that I’m here to do.

6. A podcast is in the works from what I have seen from your Facebook. That is so exciting, congratulations! Can you tell us about the focus of the podcast or any sneak peeks?

Yes!!! I’m so pumped! The podcast is a total passion project for me… it’s a living, breathing example of me following my joy, even if I don’t really know what the heck I’m doing, lol! The focus of the podcast is all on being your own hero, designing your life to bring you the utmost peace and happiness, and becoming the best version of yourself. It’s very soul-centered and focuses a lot on personal development, spirituality, inspiration, empowerment, and high-vibes! Check out my website for more info.

7. What’s next for Lauren? Your business is young and ever-growing — with the podcast, your new Goddess Rising program, and other soulpreneur programs you’ve launched/are launching, I can’t wait to hear what else you may have in store!

I’m working on a book proposal for Hay House in the beginning of 2018, which I’m so excited to share more details with everyone about soon! I’m also planning on incorporating yoga and yoga philosophy into my coaching business as I become more experienced as a teacher through my two trainings I completed in 2017. Beyond that, I plan on continuing to follow my inspiration and intuition to create programs, courses, and coaching opportunities that feel in alignment with my highest self – and trust that those who need it will arrive at the exact moment that it serves them, too! Lots of exciting things are in store.
